Like the GPU Photo Festivals, the PSA photo gatherings are opportunities for its members to travel to photographically interesting locations, socialize, make new friends and acquaintances, and strengthen existing ones. This year, the PSA also invited delegations from the other two most important associations in the world, GPU and Federation Internationale de l’Art Photographique (FIAP), creating an opportunity for fruitful summit meetings among them. The goal is to foster greater future cooperation regarding the sharing and homogenization of international salon regulations, as well as collaboration on events and initiatives aimed at spreading photographic culture to passionate amateur and professional photographers worldwide, in the spirit of peace and friendship.
A large group of nearly 200 photographers visited locations in North Vietnam, seeking to capture with their cameras the spirit and beauty of these places and their inhabitants. The event was organized by a team of Vietnamese photographers and volunteers, coordinated by PSA Vice President and President of the Federation of Indonesian Photography Societies (FPSI), Agatha Anne Bunanta.
Manolis Metzakis and Claudio Calosi had the opportunity for bilateral talks with the leadership of the PSA — specifically President John Andrew Hughes and Vice President Frederick Doerfler — as well as trilateral meetings including FIAP, represented by its President Riccardo Busi and Board members Ioannis Lykouris and Romain Nero. The shared ambitious goal is the promotion of photography as a universal language that connects people, different cultures, and nations of the world through knowledge, the exchange of information and activities, and mutual respect.
