From October 19th to November 3rd, 2024, the 5th edition of “View·Appreciate: Exhibition of Presidents of Photography Societies from Ten Countries”, co-hosted by the Global Photographic Union (GPU), was held at China Millennium Monument in Beijing.
Invited by Photo Beijing 2024, Manolis Metzakis, the President of GPU, was invited to attend the opening ceremony and other agendas during the event. This exhibition was curated by Guo Jing, GPU Vice President.

The “View·Appreciate: Exhibition of Presidents of Photography Societies from Ten Countries” features masterpieces from the leaders of photographic institutions in ten European countries, including the UK, Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia, Norway, Hungary, Romania, Italy, Greece, and Belarus.
With photography as the medium, this exhibition facilitated open cultural exchanges between Chinese and Western cultures through the exchanges of image art. The exhibited works featured unique styles and strong personal signatures, allowing viewers to appreciate the characteristics of European professional and artistic photography.
This is the third time that GPU served as the international host of the “View·Appreciate: Exhibition of Presidents of Photography Societies from Ten Countries” and marked another successful collaboration with the Photo Beijing.
Both parties looked forward to establishing this exhibition as an international brand exhibition project.
During Photo Beijing, Manolis Metzakis, the President of GPU, was invited to attend the the Face-to-face Dialogue of Chinese and Foreign Photographic Organization’s Experts. He made a presentation about the Global Photographic Union (GPU) and its cooperation and exchanges with various photographic organizations in China and around the world.

Presented at the Dialogue were Zhong Weixing, the Vice Chairman of the China Artistic Photographic Society and the Art Director of Chengdu International Photography Week, Zhang Guotian, the Art Director of the Pingyao International Photography Festival, Bao Lihui, the Art Director of the Dali International Photography Festival, Huang Ronghua, Professor at Sabancı University in Istanbul, Turkey, and other leaders of photography festivals and organizations.
They introduced their photo festivals and events, and shared with the audience their experiences operating their organizations.
A heated discussion was initiated on the future development of photography festivals in China among the speakers, media reporters, and photography enthusiasts.
Zhao Yingxin, the Art Director of the Photo Beijing, moderated the dialogue.

Meanwhile, GPU also reached a cooperation intention with Photo Beijing for the year 2025.
