From October 21 to 29, 2023, the exhibitions of Presidents of Photography Societies from Ten Countries and the GPU Members Photo Exhibition was on display at the China Millennium Monument in Beijing, with the GPU as the international organizer. The exhibition was curated by Ms. Guo Jing, GPU Vice President, and was co-organized by the Photo Beijing Organizing Committee, the China Artistic Photography Society, and the Global Photographic Union (GPU).
As an international partner of Photo Beijing and one of the organizers of “View & Appreciate: Exhibitions of Presidents of Photography Societies from Ten Countries,” GPU assembles a gallery of 50 photographs by its members from 20 countries, including Greece, Italy, UK, etc.,
Among the fine works of GPU members, there are classic monochrome masterpieces that tell the story of the past as well as life of people, landscape, nature, humanities, creativity, etc. These fascinating photographs cover a variety of subjects, offering a fresh perspective and a rich visual vocabulary that touches the hearts of viewers. It is worth mentioning that all GPU Board members’ work also joined this exhibition, which was visited by a large number of visitors.
In addition, GPU also held a presentation, during which Manolis Metzakis, President of GPU, introduce the organization and activities GPU to the audience, and Guo Jing, curator and Vice President of GPU, acted as the moderator and shared the duties and activities of GPU-China.
Meanwhile, Manolis Metzakis also attended as a representative of the international organizers of exhibitions of Presidents of Photography Societies from Ten Countries to share the exhibition and participate together in the discussion on the characteristics and future trends of photography development in the Arab countries.
At the same time, GPU and Photo Beijing signed a memorandum in which the two parties will establish a close partnership in the next five years and work together to promote the art of photography. In addition, GPU President Manolis Metzakis was invited to join the Expert Advisory Committee of Photo Beijing.
At the opening ceremony of Photo Beijing, Manoliz Metzakis delivered a speech to congratulate on the success of the event by Photo Beijing. He also mentioned that over the years, in the spirit of openness and inclusiveness, GPU has been committed to the development of international photographic art and the promotion of cultural exchange among photographers.
As photography is playing an increasingly important role in the cross-culture exchange, GPU will take the ” Exhibitions of Presidents of Photography Societies from Ten Countries” as a starting point to further carry out comprehensive and in-depth cooperation in cross-boundary fusion and exchanges among countries, and we believe that the Photo Beijing will become a platform for international photographic culture and exchange activities that is inclusive and integrative, and that fuses mutual understanding among the international photographic festivals.
